Drawbacks of keeping social media over books…

Not much back in 2020 I was a book worm , loved to explore new books in hunger of knowledge. The very same year in October I got first smartphone in my hand. As said habits take time to form and change , so it happened with me too. For few months it’s was good but as COVID kicked in , things start to change . Classes shift to online classes and books changed to Google docs and notes ( we all got so busy that we used to start chalking note on our smartphones ) . Wonderful decision right ??

Until then Instagram ( I don’t have till now) was there and waste of time tik tok was also influencing youth . I was happy because YouTube was not polluted till then.

Every story has a twist , YouTube shorts got launched and many of youngster badly influenced by it.

The swipe feature brutally ruined our normal functioning of brain and day to day life too.

Let me explain:

  • The average concentration of a student in a normal classes used to be 45 minutes which drastically reduced to few seconds . This is just because we developed this habit of swipe up and we got new content to watch if you like it then swipe up more and if you don’t like it then also swipe . Everything on our fingertips right . Our generation wants everything on single click , if we don’t get angry . We have become such a short tempered people.

Let me ask you one question how many people go and search in books for indepth knowledge of any topic??

Very few right , our curiosity started to die to read indepth about any topic , all we want is quick answers for whether it is correct or not .

Huhh!!! Have you ever observed how limited we have become in scarcity of indepth knowledge.

“Deeper the roots of tree , the more stronger the tree becomes."

Even a tree dies without its roots , then do you think we can survive without stronger roots in knowledge which comes from reading books , especially in person rather than digital books.

  • Our sleep cycle is impacted badly. I don’t need to explain , just observe yourself and your surroundings you will find a good example of it.
  • I think our thought have started to shrink too . We all know we live in a world where evolution is must , specially with technology . But if you want to innovate you need a creative ideas and thoughts which comes when you spend time with oneself more while reading a book . If you will not read , you will not think , you will not have doubt or queries then how will you try to innovate and resolve the present time problem ?
  • I would like to bring a simple fact in your vision , have you listened to any successful person they always have a special place for books in their life . When those people don’t leave their habit of reading even after getting successful , then we are not even initiating this good dead in your life.
  • Less time for face to face conversation and it’s impact on relationship is not needed to explain.

Their are many drawbacks and also positive points of technology. We need to understand how we need to involve into social media and how much time we need to invest their.

I hope this year we would see increase in Book reader . This upcoming year we will add a new and beneficial habit in our life .
